There’s a reason why Speedy Auto Service makes a return in almost every “best auto repair shops in (insert Canadian city here)” article we make, and it’s not just because of the multitude of locations it has across the country.

Rather, this speaks volumes about how trusted and top-tier Speedy is in the myriad of car repair and maintenance services it provides, and we believe that the Milwoods location in Edmonton is no different.

We can say with confidence that Speedy Milwoods upholds the brand’s motto of “At Speedy, you’re a somebody”, as we’ve found its staff extra accommodating and professional in a way that makes you feel like a VIP.

While its list of available services is just like that of any other Speedy branch, we found this location, in particular, to have one of the cheapest oil changes for any shop in the area.

Generally speaking, price quotes are quite reasonable at this place assuming that everything has been properly communicated, and quite frankly, this hasn’t always been the case.

Another con is there have been cases where certain repair or maintenance tasks are rushed, resulting in recurring issues and unnecessary costs. This is not the kind of “Speedy” service anyone would like to see.

A professional and trustworthy mechanic is always one of the main features to look for in an auto repair shop, and Mike the Mechanic definitely fits that description in our book.

Mike is a reputable mechanic along these parts for a reason, and together with his team, he has created an exceptionally dependable shop that demonstrates true automotive expertise while also making anyone feel at home.

You really can’t miss the place either thanks to its big red sign and even bigger facility, which is home to ample space for working on several vehicles at once. 

So while Mike is, without a doubt, very skillful in his craft alone, he’s obviously not a one-man team. On that note, we think his team members are equally as skillful in their own right and are very willing to assist you proactively.

The diagnoses and repairs themselves are, as expected, done in a timely manner without cutting any corners. However, this isn’t to say delays never happen, because they still do for a shop with this much popularity.

At times when the shop is fully packed, there can be a backlog of major repair jobs that extend for days. 

Unfortunately, these delays can sometimes degrade the quality of work Mike the Mechanic is usually known for, which can also mean more unnecessary expenses down the line.

When taking a vehicle to have any kind of repair work done, we always look forward to receiving the good news, and what better way to get that than by going to a shop that’s renowned for exactly that?

Being named Good News Auto and actually putting in stellar work to bring the good news to customers about their car is one thing, but to have the honesty and transparency to calmly explain any bad news sets this shop apart from many others.

In short, we quite love the fact that this shop isn’t afraid to communicate anything and everything instead of saving face. To us, it’s what makes a shop even more trustworthy rather than just another money-grabbing business.

Morals and ethics aside, Good News Auto also has some pretty noteworthy services, such as emergency appointments and courtesy vehicles, which we find very client-centric in that it presents more convenience for any car owner.

Price quotes are also quite applaudable for this place whether it’s the replacement parts used or the labor charges, although sometimes, this can also depend on just how thorough you really want the shop to be.

As said earlier, Good News Auto is very detailed when it comes to communicating whatever it finds wrong, and some customers sometimes get bewildered with an expensive repair bill they weren’t expecting due to broken parts they’re not aware of.

Professional auto repair services can effortlessly balance quality work and customer satisfaction with no unnecessary compromises, and if that’s the kind of shop you’re looking for, then allow Revolution Motors to get your engine revving the way it used to.

This location just about covers every single component that needs repairing or maintaining at some point. It doesn’t matter if it comes from a sedan, an SUV, a European model, or a diesel engine; it can do it all!

However, it’s still worth pointing out that despite what the shop’s name suggests, Revolution Motors isn’t a performance-focused shop, at least not at its core.

Some people, especially diesel owners, can be easily misled to think it is such because of its “diesel modifications and repairs” service. 

In reality, we’ve found that this is only limited to extracting a bit more power through things like DPF deletes and tune-ups at most, rather than installing big turbo kits and making extensive engine mods.

Other than that, Revolution Motors is still a very adept shop for everything else that isn’t concerned with going as fast as possible, such as inspections, diagnostics, and general maintenance; all while being considerably priced too.

The availability of courtesy vehicles and a comfortable lounge area also earns it plus points, but we still have to deduct some for the customer service since its front desk doesn’t have the best history in handling customers in the past.

Instead of making the drive or spending extra to have your car towed to a shop, choose auto repair services like Instamek to bring professionally trained mechanics to your door!

Getting your car fixed is oftentimes a big errand that can have you stop everything that you’re doing, which is why Instamek scores big on the convenience factor.

Of course, there’s still the unavoidable fact that you’ll have to wait for their arrival anyway, but we’ve had nothing but swift response times on our end. 

Just keep in mind that this can still vary depending on your location, availability of mechanics, and even uncontrollable elements like traffic.

One seemingly minor but good thing about Instamek is that, unlike the other shops on this list, it’s actually available on Saturdays, which further adds to the overall convenience that you already get from booking a home service.

We also find it impressive how many services it’s capable of performing despite being limited to only a van and one or two mechanics at most, who we can confirm are some of the nicest and most professional people we’ve ever met.

The downside, we feel, is that price quotations over the phone can get quite confusing. While some services have fixed rates that are quite fair, there have been instances where the mechanic’s quotes don’t match up with what has been discussed prior.
